• Loose shipping was with less slaves, but reduced the desease and illnesses • Tight shipping was as many slaves as possible to earn the highest profit • Worst case, the captain did not provide any hygiene at all • Suicide attempts occurred daily, slaves tried jumping off the ships, asked other slaves to strangle them to death, tried to drown, and tried to starve to death |
